Decoding Hope

The Reign of the Serpent

Today, we take a stroll through the very first battleground, the Garden of Eden, to understand the roots of the conflict that will one day explode at Armageddon. We’ll try to understand how an angel of light could transform into a talking snake spreading lies about God in an idyllic garden.

One morning, what had once seemed extraordinary—a living symbol of the wild, adapted to domestic life—revealed itself as utterly indifferent to human trust or affection. The night before, the starving adult snake escaped its enclosure, which was covered by a quilt, and entered the room where the couple’s two-year-old daughter Shaianna slept. Attracted by the toddler’s warm body, the snake did the unthinkable.

The snake’s colourful beauty and familiarity suggested acceptance, charm, even safety. But beneath this sense of wonder, something dangerous was growing. Burmese pythons are wild predators by nature, ruled by instinct, not affection.

No amount of love could erase the animal’s natural drive to hunt.
