Are Dead People Burning in Hell?
It traces the popular image of an ever‑burning hell to pagan Greco‑Roman ideas (Hierapolis' "Pluto's gate," Hades) and Dante's Divine Comedy, not the Bible. Showing that Jesus' word Gehenna pointed to Jerusalem's smoldering garbage dump, it defends annihilation — the "second death" (Malachi, Revelation, 2 Thessalonians, and the parable of the rich man and Lazarus read as symbolic) — as a picture of total destruction from a God who is both loving and just.
