Prayer of Protection
Do you ever feel trapped by your own weaknesses? As though you will never change, you will always make the same mistakes over and over? God sees you. And He’s not judging. He’s not even angry at you. He wants to protect you. He wants to rescue you. Will you let Him? We’re studying the Lord’s Prayer line by line, and in this episode, we look closely at “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” This line reveals an incredible truth about who God is and what He wants for us.
We all have them—weaknesses that bring us down. It seems like our greatest enemy is ourselves. We lack the strength to resist every time. And when we give in, we spiral in shame and self-loathing. Or numbness. We did it, again.
There’s a way out of the cycle. There is help available—and it might be from Someone unexpected.
Jesus taught in His Lord’s Prayer that God stands ready to protect us from caving in…and to rescue us when we do.
He said:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
